Up in Flames

Welcome everyone to my little patch of internet earth. I am relatively new to the world of knitting and have been admiring so many of your blogs that I have decided to start my own. Currently I am working on my first lace project, the Candle Flame Shawl from Knitpicks. It will be my first knit piece for my mother, and hopefully, will be in time for Mother's Day. I make no promises on that. It seems to be taking forever. I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I am a perpetual screw up and have had to rip back on it, repeatedly. However, this latest run is going quite well. I have just about 50 inches with another 20" to go, which will hopefully be done before this Friday , so that I may soak, block, dry and wrap in time for Sunday.

Here is how long it is thus far...

Close up of the pattern....

Here's to hoping I get it finished in time... As an aside does anyone who has knit this before find that three skeins the pattern calls for a bit much? I got about 30 inches off of one skein. I think I'll stop at 2 skeins and call it a day. Wish me luck!
